Power To Play
Presented by The Dairy Farmers of Canada
I have already used the information from this presentation so I have been very happy with the resources I was given. I was able to teach a healthy eating unit to my students during my first block and I was able to adapt lessons and worksheets to fit how I wanted to teach healthy eating. What I really enjoyed about this presentation is that the information and resources I was given I could use at anytime in the future and even if curriculum changes have so many different things I can use that I can easily adapt the information I was given to fit into many different types of lessons.
This presentation was given to all the people in my Heath and Physical Education class but the reason I chose to write about this presentation was because I felt confident enough to use the information in my first teaching block and then the students liked these lessons so much that they were sad when I told them that the healthy eating unit was over. Since this worked so well my first time trying it I think I will continue to use this information and it's resources in the future. I found it so easy to adapt information into lessons I did so I wouldn't mind doing that for future lessons as well.
Technology wasn't really used in this presentation other than using the CD/DVD to let us listen to songs or watch short videos that accompany some of the lessons. However, with the information I have gathered from this presentation I think it would be easy for me to incorporate technology with this information to create lessons that I would use. It would have been nice if there were online activities on the website that was given to us for students to play while they are at home to continue to build the Health and Physical Education knowledge.
Overall, I really enjoyed this presentation and I am even interested in seeing the presentation that is offered for the junior grades.
